Dotterel ABC helps children and parents, who want to promptly build a vocabulary in a foreign language.
Listen to the entire text multiple times, while you are engaged with your daily activities or while falling asleep. You can listen to it with or without music, as you prefer. Accompaniment is also related to the text and would help you tell apart words. Select the appropriate icon. This is a listening comprehension exercise. The game with the 10 cards helps learning approximately 200 of the most commonly used words and phrases. This is a picture dictionary. By clicking on only one button you switch to your native language and look up the meaning of words. The text in the middle is used to learn small sections of the tale. After hearing it multiple times you can try reading it together with the reader and in a while telling it by heart or retelling it. Learning the text will help you start using learnt phrases quickly and easily and will make you “feel the grammar” of language. Learn everything contained on the card and then proceed.
Writing is an important part of the process of learning a foreign language. By downloading the program you get an additional bonus: a calligraphy book designed especially for children, containing the text and pictures of the tale. The letters are written in dotted font. While children connect the dots, they learn to write the words and thus their spelling. Children feel very motivated, when they see they have written a book. The part for colouring and contouring pictures is one of children’s favourite exercises, which improves their fine motor skills.
